feevy has a Christmas gift for you: the feevy ping pluging by Alex Girard.

It can be installed as any other Wordpress plugin. It pings feevy server every time you update your blog, allowing feevy to give a better, more updated, service and, whats more important, allowing your posts to appear in your friend’s feevy sooner.

Since yesterday there are more than 6000 bloggers using feevy. We are reading now more than 24000 different sources and serving them to you in your blogs. Thanks to you all!

We realize that Feevy tips we occasionally post here are difficult to find, so we had just created the category “tips” to group tips and tricks. Now you can check this category to learn different ways to use feevy and to take advantage of yours.

At the top of sidebar you can find the latest posts of tips category. Follow this category through the RSS 2.0 and don’t forget to visit the Feevy FAQ!

OPML is now supported into Feevy to import/export your blogroll.
In your Feevy Manage, you can import an OPML file when “adding new blogs“, or export your Feevy list as an OPML with the link you’ll find at the bottom of the page.

Performance issue resolved, enjoy Feevy with fresh and quick loading

Feevy is already in more than 4000 blogs. With the european autumn starts a period of investment in order to improve scalability, flexibility and service.
We will not get you down, we now how important is becoming our little feevy for your blog.

feevy is really free software now. It was born as GNU but we hadnt published the code. You have it now at http://www.feevy.com/source.tgz.

If you want to install it you will need:

• memcached runing as daemon in default port (11211) - http://www.danga.com/memcached/
• Ruby - http://www.ruby-lang.org/
• Rubygems - http://rubyforge.org/frs/?group_id=126
• GD2 library - http://www.boutell.com/gd/
• Gems:
  • rails
  • hpricot
  • simple-rss
  • open-uri
  • timeout
  • cached_model
  • mongrel
  • gd2
• Database (mysql, sqlite, …)

First get the gems: sudo gem install -y rails hpricot simple-rss open-uri timeout cached_model mongrel. Set up then the database in ./conf/database.yml and the database schema rake db:schema:dump

For start it running, typemongrel_rails start in your feevy directory and in the browser: http://tudominio.org:3000.

That’s it!

Feevy is working again. The origin of the problems was in the new multilingual system. At the moment it will be off, but the service returns to normality.
