Since yesterday there are more than 6000 bloggers using feevy. We are reading now more than 24000 different sources and serving them to you in your blogs. Thanks to you all!

OPML support in Feevy

OPML is now supported into Feevy to import/export your blogroll.
In your Feevy Manage, you can import an OPML file when “adding new blogs“, or export your Feevy list as an OPML with the link you’ll find at the bottom of the page.

Feevy becomes free software

feevy is really free software now. It was born as GNU but we hadnt published the code. You have it now at http://www.feevy.com/source.tgz.

If you want to install it you will need:

  • memcached runing as daemon in default port (11211) - http://www.danga.com/memcached/
  • Ruby - http://www.ruby-lang.org/
  • Rubygems - http://rubyforge.org/frs/?group_id=126
  • GD2 library - http://www.boutell.com/gd/
  • Gems:
    • rails
    • hpricot
    • simple-rss
    • open-uri
    • timeout
    • cached_model
    • mongrel
    • gd2
  • Database (mysql, sqlite, …)

First get the gems: sudo gem install -y rails hpricot simple-rss open-uri timeout cached_model mongrel. Set up then the database in ./conf/database.yml and the database schema rake db:schema:dump

For start it running, typemongrel_rails start in your feevy directory and in the browser: http://tudominio.org:3000.

That’s it!

Back to normal service

Feevy is working again. The origin of the problems was in the new multilingual system. At the moment it will be off, but the service returns to normality.

Feevy has now 2900 users. 2900 betatesters who are discovering now what we ever wanted to be feevy: an stable, versatile, quick and constanly updated system

Who will be the 3000th user registered? We dont know… but we want to prepare something special. Any idea?

Encoding improvements

Since this morning, the parsing system of Feevy has been improved. Most of encoding problems has been removed and will disappear as soon as you make a new post on your blog.
Beta is nearly finished for Feevy.
